Some health problems and some diseases are common to people and animals, although the way of manifestation are different, but there are health problems which are unique to dogs. Since we have talked about similarities to humans, alcohol has kind of the same effect on dogs as on people, so giving alcohol to your dog is not a very good idea. Continuing the comparison, there are dogs which develop food allergies, same like people, this does not apply to a certain species, but to dogs in general and one of the allergic foods is salmon (same like in people). Pits of fruits (apricots or peaches) are also dangerous for dogs, since they contain cyanide, which is poisonous, but unless they chew the pit, it shouldn’t be any danger (apart from choking).
It is not recommended the feed the table scraps to dogs, which should have an equilibrate diet, made up of proteins, nutrients and carbohydrates, to provide the necessary vitamins for a dog’s body. But giving too much food to dogs (although they will eat it), can lead to obesity, which causes further health problems to dogs, exactly as it happens with people.
The type of food has a direct impact on the dog health and the way it acts, offering a level of energy, or not, so, it is very important to check what the dog eats, and check the quantity as well.
